Fifth and sixth grade students and brothers lead a procession of Sacred Heart School students and staff as they walk to Sacred Heart Church to unite their prayers for families and priests with those of children from around the world.“We are the children of the world praying for all the families and priests of the world. . .” So began each decade of the Rosary as led by fifth and sixth grade students from Sacred Heart School during their participation in a Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour last Friday. Each of the five decades was dedicated to the families and priests of different regions of the world. Those living in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Oceania (countries of the Pacific Ocean), and Asia were all remembered in prayer during the event.
With the Blessed Sacrament exposed children spent time in silent prayer as well. The intentions of Sacred Heart students joined those of children all over the world who likewise spent time in prayer on this day.
The rain held off to allow for a procession of students and staff from the school to the church prior to the service. We were not so fortunate on Saturday, however, as stormy weather was cause for postponing the annual SHS Bike-A-Thon. The event has been rescheduled for next Saturday, October 10 from 10:00-1:00.
